WORKPLACE EVALUATION The Workplace Evaluation program is beneficial for those involved in identifying ergonomics risk factors, workplace causes and potential solutions. The full day program is customized by incorporating photographs and videos of real work situations. Participants learn to identify the ergonomics risk factors that can cause workplace musculoskeletal disorders and about prevention strategies related to workplace design, tool design, and work methods. They also learn to conduct and interpret a workplace evaluation using the ergonomics design review process that can be used for any type of work. Each participant receives a reference manual that includes the basic principles of ergonomics, Workplace Evaluation forms and instructions, and tables of frequently needed information such as a Maximum Safe Load Matrix, Design Criteria and a Table of Workplace Dimensions. To find out more, contact us to request a telephone call or schedule a meeting to discuss your needs. ERGONOMICS SPECIALIST The Ergonomics Specialist program is aimed at those selected to have the primary responsibility for completing workplace assessments and managing the ergonomics program (the in-house specialists). All participants must first complete the Workplace Evaluation training. The four hour program is a hands-on workshop in which participants have an opportunity to apply the design review and evaluation methods to a variety of jobs. Four hours of hands-on coaching occurs several weeks later to ensure competancy. As a result of the training, the participants will be able to demonstrate a high level of expertise in applying the design review and evaluation methods to real jobs. They will also become familiar with company policies regarding the implementation of ergonomics and the acquisition of resources that might be required to make ergonomics improvements. YOUR WORKPLACE The purpose of the Your Workplace program is to improve the health and comfort of employees by teaching them to apply ergonomic principles when performing their jobs. The specific objectives of each class are customized to achieve the goals of management and presented in a way to support the overall ergonomics effort. During the two to three hour program, participants learn to identify ergonomics risk factors that can lead to musculoskeletal disorders and apply strategies for preventing upper limb and back injuries at work and at home. They also learn to use specific guidelines covering adjustments and adaptations that can be made by the user. Office workers also learn about strategies for preventing or reducing eyestrain and fatigue and how to properly adjust their chairs, monitors and accessories. Each participant receives a handbook that gives examples of typical work situations in office, manufacturing and home environments along with a set of guidelines to help arrange their own workstation. A train-the-trainer option is available so in-house trainers can be trained to deliver the Your Workplace program for a variety of audiences. The Demonstration enables employees to improve their health and comfort by emphasizing work area adjustments. Participants learn to identify risk factors that lead to discomfort or injury and describe proper body positions when working at a computer. They learn to use Office Ergonomics Guidelines to maximize the use of their existing work areas by properly adjusting their chairs, monitors and accessories. They also learn exercises for reducing stress and muscle fatigue. Optional individual consultations can be scheduled following the training. The consultant visits each participant at their workstation to help them apply what they learned and make adjustments to reduce risk factors.
